i also i have been told to do the electrical based cscs? anyone have any info?

cheers

It's called an ECS card, which stands for Electrotechnical Certification Scheme, which is basically the same as the CSCS but contains electrical questions as well. The test is operated by unite the union and the ECA (Electrical contractors association).

As far as you're concerned you need it to be allowed on sites, and that is how it will benefit you.

Electrician covers ECS.

CSCS covers others building areas.
I even found the website constructioncard.co.uk saying more details about the especification of the card.

The card shows that you have within the last 3 years sat and passed a basic health and safety exam.
Some other qualifications and more extensive H&S qualifications allow you to apply for the card without sitting the exam.
The card, because it is administered by the JIB, can also have your qualifications (if still current) and the particular grade the JIB believe you should be graded at.
Trainee, Adult Trainee, Electrician, Approved Electrician etc.
