Dear All. I need to wire an RJ45 socket and at the other end a plug to go into an Ethernet switch. Do I wire both ends as ‘B’ or is it ‘A’at one end and ‘B’ at the other(crossover)
Have data coming into a garden room and want to take it to other side of the room via an Ethernet switch
So data comes into room. Is plugged into switch then equipment plugged into switch including me cable to other side of room
Sorry to eamble
Cheers

I'm pretty sure most switches and hubs nowadays will automatically detect the type and work accordingly.

My advice would be socket <> long cable <> socket <> short commercial patch lead <> switch. All wired "B".

For the reason that sockets are 1000% easier to wire than plugs and the short patch lead can be replaced in 10 years when the clip breaks or the perpetual cable strain deforms it.

To answer the original question, just use B for everything, though @DPG is correct that modern devices and switches won't care.
