Sorry two questions today. We had the kitchen rewired based on existing units, but with a slightly new layout it puts the dishwasher right over the socket, which I hear can be bad and burn out the plug when they touch.

I’ve got a socket with no switch, with a fused switch above controlling it.

Can you cut off the plug from the dishwasher and hard wire it in with a faceplate on? Won’t this invalidate the warranty?

My other thought was to take the socket off, wire in an extension and put an external socket in the next cupboard over so the dishwasher can retain the plug. Otherwise I’m going to have to get an electrician out if we change the dishwasher. My main concern is the dishwasher warranty being void though.

Thanks

Just plug it in, dishwashers don’t use a lot of power and I have never seen a plug burn out on one.
