Fire Safety Accreditation

morning all, I've been asked by a land lord to carry out an inspection of a fire alarm system in a block of flats. Just wondering if you need to be accredited by anybody? For example, you can carry out EICR without being a member of a governing body, so was wondering if this was the case.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You need to be competent with regards to testing and have the knowledge as to whether the system is suitable for purpose, a copy of BS5839-1 is a document you should have.
