We have just installed a solar pv system with a fronius 4.0 inverter - we are getting an error message 102 on the inverter - has anyone had this problem before and if so, how did you recitfy it?

Thanks,
TP Sol

AC voltage too high

Description Grid conditions are being tested and as soon as they

are again within the permissible range, the inverter

will resume feeding power into the grid.

Remedy Check grid connections

Should the status code persist, you should contact

your system installer You will need the code to alter the grid voltage, and maybe approval from DNO

Just visited a system yesterday (put in an ImmerSun and a Vo4Home - customer asked us to install, I didn't sell them :) ) to find a SolarEdge 4000-16A wired in on 2.5mm2 cable ....

Not our install, not our remit to fix, did point it out to customer though. Also not a single label or diagram in sight when we visited, even the breaker - 32A not labelled.

We didn't leave it like that - it was properly and safely isolated on a double pole 20A breaker when we left (part of the Vo4Home install) and properly labelled. We weren't about to rewire his inverter foc though!

4kWp system wired with a 2.5mm cable from a 32A breaker? I think I'd have upgraded the cable too if I was installing on a 20A breaker.

I would imagine that PV installations are the worst example of electrical work nationwide.

I'd agree, however in this installtion the installation carrying capacity of the cable is greater than 20A so it's OK from that point of view, just bad from a voltage drop issue. We always install 4kW systems in a minimum of 6mm2 as recommended by most Inverter Manufacturers, and do calcs to ensure that it's correct.

I should think there's a Fronius one somewhere..

I'm sure that they are actually the worst - we have seen some terrible installtions, nothiong to do with PV, just that we are more heavily peer reviewed :) Job Bloggs electrician would say (correctly) that 2.5mm is Ok for that curretn carrying capacity (properly protected) the challenge is they nearly always work on 'rule of thunb' and never read the manufacturers guidelines let alone do the calculations..

Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread, I was just was trying to nudge the OP into looking at the reasons, instead of assuming an inverter fault...
