hi all i just completed a new installation and it will be getting assesd by select for membership but i have a general query about it even though it passed the building control inspection.
If you have done a new installation and the client has requested sockets and light sw,s to be mounted at a specific height which does not adhere to regulation height does that class as fail on my part or what....

Not sure how Part M of the building regs in scotland differ, if at all to England, but for a new installation you are suppose to mount accessories at the prescribed height as per the DDA.

I have to be honest and say I'm not sure what would happen in this situation. There could very well be a case in England that the local Building control would make you change the heights of the accessories to comply, though I have never personally heard of this happening.

As for the assesement the select inspector could fail you on this, as he could on other parts of the building regs that were not adhered to such as holes in joist, fire barriers and such. He though could equally pass you if you explained what the situation was.
