Discuss Help, Lighting Circuit in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

How is having two years experience and being clueless better than a Electrical Trainee and being clueless better from the poor customers perspective?
i have passed lvl 1 2 & 3 2300 and have two years previous on site experience

If he wanted or needed to join a scheme, they would be falling over themselves to sign up someone with qualifications that don't hardly compare with his haul

He has 2 years on site experience.

How many posts are seen on this forum by fast trackers, almost begging to be given a chance of starting out on the road of experience, experience incidentally which he first trod 2 years ago

He is a late stage apprentice electrician.he is not a couple of weeks chancer
He is being given a rough time by some and deserves none of it
How often are entrants to this trade derided because they do their training on fast track courses, yet here we have a traditionally trained
electrician apprentice being scolded for stretching his wings

Good luck to him,I say,he has the experience to know if he has the experience

This is very serious Des!
Is she going through 'The Change'?
HRT might help, otherwise, take her to see a psychiatrist at the earliest opportunity!

Sorry archie for censoring my question
I had to act quickly before she got chance to read it over my shoulder
If she sees that she can hurt me with the Necaslte weapon.what chance have I lol

For crying out loud guys! The lad is an apprentice who is asking for tips not how to do the whole job! Yes, as an apprentice he shouldn't really be working unsupervised but who here can honestly say they didn't do it?
OP, if you want some tips on specific aspects of the job PM me with your questions

Always have a few other window Tabs open so you can switch away fast if someone approaches.

To the OP - LeeJay, one thing you'll soon learn in dealing with the customers is what they ask for isn't necessarily what they want or need. You say she's asked for her kitchen lights to be rewired, and you've assumed new cable for the circuit back to the CU, because that's what "rewire" means to an electrician. She's just as likely to mean change the light fitting, put in downlighters instead of a fluorescent (or vice versa), or a range of other things. As it's a kitchen, she might just want a clean new drop wire on a pendant fitting!

With experience you'll get the hang of asking questions on the phone to be better prepared for the face-to-face meeting, or just turning up without any preconceptions.

Give the guy a break, its only a few frigging lights he's putting in on his own, not designing and wiring a complete tower-block from scratch. If apprentices are never let do anything on their own how can they learn? I learned loads going off doing small jobs on my own being made to think on my feet instead of going, "Dan, how do I...?" at every query I found.
