Hi,

i recently fitted 2 Searchlight LED globe pendant fittings in a property, straight forward job just a switch wire, neutral and earth in the fitting. Each controlled by a separate switch

A day after fitting them both the customer told me that one of the fittings had blown and tripped the MCB, the fitting had been on for a while when it blew. 5 days later the same thing happened with the other fitting but it had been working fine for the entire time.

I contacted searchlight who replaced the fittings for me and i put one of the replacements back up 3 days ago.

the customer has just contacted me to say it has blown again.

Any ideas?

thanks

Most likley a faulty batch of light fittings

However it would be worth checking the voltage at the property.
Faults with N on the supply side can cause strange voltages form 0 to 400v across a single phase.

thanks,

the voltage was coming in at 243v so nothing too drastic, will have to check the batch number of the faulty fittings and see if they are the same.
