I have 3 double sockets all fed from separate 32 AMP EACH . The distance is 2m from the board and the cable is in 25mm metal conduit.
I have used 4mm single core cable for each socket . I’m told I need to upgrade this to 6mm single core . Why is 4mm not big enough ??

(reason it’s single is so each socket is independent due to what gets used in them CANT have all appliances off at once, just incase or I would have a ring)

Maximum current rating for a double 13A socket is 20A. Even if you overload the socket by drawing 13A from each side at the same time, that is still only 26A, therefore 4.0mm2 is adequate. If the 20A loading was respected, then 2.5mm2 would be adequate, as it is for a socket spurred off a RFC protected by a 32A MCB.

I’m told the table says MAX is 30 for 4mm in conduit . Cause it’s a 32 then 6mm Is needed . Is this right

Does that post about 4mm in condguit in table says 30 max help explain
He says the table for cable says max is 30amp ( obv there is a 32amp breaker which will never be reached ) so 6mm is needed . Where can I find this table independently so I can see for myself

This is Table 4D1A of BS7671.
