It is probably a Voltage Operated Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker. I assume the green earths are connected to it, never seen an AEI one.

Its as the two other posters have stated an old VOELCB. Although I doubt if it now works looking at the other bonding wires

The TEST button certainly doesnt work. Its also rated at 63A and when the DNO have changed the head its now a 80A Fuse.

The install was TT up until 3 years ago. Now its PME.

Its on the DNO side of the meter, do you think its worth getting them to come and remove it?

There are many VOELCBs being used as DP Isolators.

If the supplier thought that the old VOELCB was capable of carrying the new loading then they would have left it in place. A bit odd to leave it between the meter and the intake though.

If you have any doubts have a good old sniff around the switch and if it stinks of fish then it may have too much load passing through it.

Im back there tomorrow. Ill get some picks if you want them when the fairy pulls the main fuse. Or am i going to discover something.

If its only purpose is an isolator then its not needed. There is a 60947-3 after the meter.

It's taking a lot of space too. I got the urge to rip it all out and tidy up the mess
As its a council grants job ive got a 2 way metal board to fit in somewhere for the new shower and bathroom lighting circuit so fin it off would be great haha. Id only have the DNO remove though.
