A family member who used to sea fishing came across this cable, I would like to identify what type of cable is this and how to use it safely. Tried search on google but very limited information and I'm not an electrition to know how to turn this 100 ft safely for extension cord. It's looking like a very high-end cable when strips outside to get into the main 2 wires. the sticky glue sticks for days... The cable label "Seiscord Tm Mark Production Houston Texas USA"

why not ask the manufacturer, Seiscord?

Geophone SeisCable seems to show up as making specialist cables for seismic monitoring, that can withstand high pressures - this could be consistent with a cable dragged up from the sea floor whilst fishing!

I don't really understand the specs for this application, but suspect the cables could be very unsuitable for extension cord use. One spec in particular suggests they might have quite a high resistance, i.e. get rather warm if you try to put a few amps through it.

Agreed, it looks like a transducer cable intended for low voltage applications, The insulation is probably not rated for AC power use.

Doesn't look like theres a ground conductor either. Not sure what the regs say over there about extension cables though.

Good advice from people above though.

Don't take the risk to try and save a few dollars.

YES! it's was a drag from the seafloor back in the 2000s the length was about 1500 ft when they pull up, what I was told is the cord got stuck in the fishing nets about 200 miles from shore. I was always wondering what the hell this cable doing out in the middle of nowhere. what can it use for home?

If it's had that amount of rough treatment I would just bin it. I'm all for re-using stuff, but not in this case. Or use it as a washing line.
