on a standard 3 bed house, the owner decides to have a small front porch build on the front and requires a light inside the porch (ceiling mounted) and a lantern outside.

Where would you pull a supply from without disrupting to much?

hall light, check if it's looped at the light fitting or the switch first.

Do you have to find the end of the lighting circuit or can you pick up from the middle of the chain?
Or can you feed from the nearest switch?

Some guidance would be great for my future knowledge.

Thanks Guys

don't forget, you may not have a neutral at the switch position.

Thanks - is it ok to add a forth wire to a standard ceiling pendant or is it best to do the connections in a JB, dropping a L N E done to the original light and then feeding the new light with a L N E and dropping a new switch line?

Thanks

you can azdd a 4th T/E in tne ceiling rose, but you will have to double up on the terminals. if you are lucky and have a neutral atr the exisin switch, you can drill out from there and not go near the light.
