Hi all. Ive got to take my meter tails from the isolator to Henly blocks then split them up one set to a con unit the other set to a 100 Switch fuse. At no point of the installation would the meter tails be exposed. They will be either in the meter cupboard, conduit, con unit or switch fuse. My question is am I allowed to use unsheathed tails.

Never seen double insulated meter tails only ever seen insulated & sheathed can you please provide further details as these may be useful.

Sorry links don't work, though it seems that at least one of them links to TLC site, they don't sell double insulated tails, they never have, they only sell insulated & sheathed, or at least that is all I have ever seen on their site before, in the catalogue and at the branch, I have never managed to buy them from anywhere, nor have I managed to find them made by any of the cable manufacturers, hence why I asked, I have been searching for this product for several years now, because as I say they could be useful.

At a guess.... (someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm only the apprentice)

If it isn't double insulated shouldn't it need mechanical protection such as conduit? Very similar to why we only use singles in conduit?

How much easier could it make it anyway???

Reg 412.1.2 the protective measure of double or reinforced insulation is applicable in all situations, unless limitations are given in the corresponding section of part 7

Is "to make the installation easier to install" suitable to not use double insulated?

---FROM the meter to an isolator/blocks/m/sw/f always double insulated. after that-as long as
mechanically protected, can be singles.
