I am fitting some sockets behind a tv on the wall tomorrow and the customer is going to have sky rigged up once the room is decorated. I just thought that while i'm at it, it would be better to install an outlet for the satellite dish behind the tv also and make use of the chase im cutting out for the sockets to hide the cable. I figured i'd just leave the other end of the cable somewhere accessible for the sky man to link up to.

Question I have is what cable do I use? I have a roll of the twin coaxial cable that the sky man left behind at my mums, could i use this and do i use both cables (they are stuck together double-barrel style)?

You need a HDMI point behind the tv. The coaxial cable goes into the sky box which i assume will be on some form of unit or shelf below the tv so would be pointless running the shotgun cable behind the tv. Also even in a short run it is good practice to use seperate chases for data and power cables, 100mm gab between is best but not always practical when you are trying fo hide outlets behind
tv's

You do not require a hdmi point behind the tv. The hdmi connection is between the sky box and the tv. However he makes a good point about keeping data and power cables separate, this is due to emf interference. Read the regs for more info on this.

Also the cable you require is wf100 coaxial. However may I ask why that's your job? That's the job for the sky engineers, to connect tvs to the sat dish.

Do you know what, I didn't even think about any of those things!

I'll give it a miss. Just thought while I was at it... never mind, he didn't request it anyway was just trying to use some initiative.

Cheers everyone!
