If you mean the visit from NIC / NAPIT etc.. then yes and not really that much was involved. We printed off a recent jobs paperword and they just looked at all of it from survey to comissioning. Spent about 1.5 hrs on the paperwork and then 10mins at the job.

We only touched the paperwork for the job we went to see. Plus all usual insurance, rea membership stuff etc..

Mine was more in depth than the original, four hours on the manual then off to site, this was the NICEIC

likewise, a good 4 hours on paperwork, going through the manual and cross referencing procedures with policies then some fairly searching questions on the job. looked in detail at wording on quotes and contracts and made me change some bits, let me do it there and then though. Looked in detail at tool lists and subcontractor contract. Also wanted to see my working at height cert.

That was ELECSA

it's no wonder there are so many dodgy installs around when all these bodies focus 90% on the paperwork, and only 10% on an actual install that you get to pick yourself.

Probably wouldn't notice if the inverter was upside down as long as the stickers where on it.

Exactly its a sham. Why is having completely pointless paperwork more important than the install? Surely thats what it all comes down to?

Absolutely. Ask a customer what is important and I guarantee you won't find one of them that gives a flesh-ball about 'recording meetings' between my brother and I.
