In all my years at the trade I have seldom encountered the above, However I have a bedroom to a home office conversion with the added additional sockets, so I assume I need to use conduit, as I imagine clipping to the stuff is out, I would welcome any hints and tips from those who have worked with it before

Got it, the walls are existing and your chasing into the old walls through plaster then into the blocks
If that's right use oval then either 40mm galv nails to hold the oval in the walks or screw and plug it on the sides
If the plasters deep enough you can use capping straight onto the block and nail or screw it.
If your making good then the nails should be good enough to hold it in place until you bond it up.
hope that helps

i would try 2" screws directly into the wall as well, soft of the blocks are that soft you can screw straight into them with woodscrews and a screwdriver (ill only do this on capping though rather than nails)

This stuff has the consistency of papermache might dip the nails in some adhesive as a belt and braces job then leave it for a day dont see the conduit staying put as I pull through
