I'm genuinely puzzled. Why do we welcome new members who appear to have no interest in electrical work of any kind? For example, here are a couple from today:
http://www.electriciansforums.net/search.php?searchid=2100358
http://www.electriciansforums.net/search.php?searchid=2100309

Surely after one or two posts, they should just be chucked out? After all, they're just adding to the quantity of rubbish on the forum and reducing the average quality of the posts. I can understand Dan wanting more forum members, but going for quantity over quality just makes it frustrating for genuine users.

I thin the welcome messages must be automated, there is just now another one ("Welcome to electriciansforums.net. Stick around I'm sure you'll like the forum.") to what is obviously garbage.

Presumably those threads have been deleted. In all honesty I don't always read through people's life stories - I often just say :welcome2: and leave it at that.
If something is blatantly spam, we have a 'report post' button for a reason.

Makes you wonder what these people are like probably not got much between their ears

I've used that button no less than five times this past week.

Yes, both Dan's and Jason's responses in the welcome threads are automated. We are having trouble with unusually high numbers of spanners at the moment, a lot of it you guys don't see as it's caught by the forum software and placed straight in the moderation queue.

I've removed over 200 items in the last couple of days. So, any crap you see that has slipped through the filter, just let us know, cheers.

The problem with automated responses is that when one bot is replied to it just informs the originator that the forum has low spam settings and next thing you know we have 50 posts on adverts for ------!!!
