Hello All, been to price a job up yesterday in a bungalow.. New DB required due to the plumber wanting RCD fuseboard to fit bathroom suite...... (Alarm Bells)

Start by checking the Main Bonding. Water 10mm Gas 4mm. then move onto the board itself. Remove cover and no CPC to lights, therefore a IR test beetween n&e at 250v is done.. 67.9 m oAM for sockets and immersion heater. then after disconnecting all loads on lights IR on l&n to lights and 34.7 m oams. all fine.. and no dreaded nuturals but only one lighting circuit.

Anyway.. Customer advised I would recommend a lights have CPC installed however due to the run it would be false economy to run just a 4mm cpc therefore twin and earth would be the most feasible option. this option declined though as was told the lights work therefore not nessessary..

Anyway.. Cheapest option.. New Db, 10mm bond to gas (10m Run 30min job due to run), Meter Tails and change class one fittings (x2) £260.. With Cert

Apparently that way too expensive. What would you guys charge?

So, what you're saying is that the plumber and the customer are dictating what's right and what's not? Sod that, you're the electrician, if they don't like it and would rather get John from the pub to do it for £20, it's their safety. Walk away.

tell old wet pants to spin on it....
advise class 2s for lighting....and note it...
happy days.

so a new CU is required because the plumber said so ?
then the jobs gone wrong already.
;-)

Exactly, Suspect the plumber will be doing the remaining electrical work just doesn't want to touch the board . I will be making sure its noted exactly what i have done on the cert...

It's the value society puts on the importance and value of electricians and electrical installations
You will be peeing in the wind trying to justify the work to them

I'm afraid its walkies or swallow your pride and accept a lower rate, its sad but true

No not all all, they have the price and what is required to do the job. I have advised that id recommend a cpc installed but not mandatory providing class 2 fittings are installed. I suspect that the plumber will end up doing the work. I think all there are interested in is the cert.

I totally agree, Some peoples mentality is that it works therefore there is nothing wrong. Regardless of what you tell them its a complete waste of time.

well part of me thinks let it go to fault....then see if its OK..lol...
but its still about duty of care and compliance....
a lot of customers just dont get it....

Which just goes to show how dumb the plumber is then.

Doesn't he realise that your EIC would only state CU change and the notification would only cover the CU??

it seems to me the plumber is trying to get a free notification for his bathroom work under your CU change.
tell em to eat dog doo.

Without a doubt.. Its these kind of jobs I can smell a rat from the outset.. I always cover my behind and note exactly what been done.. Personally with no CPC the next inspection date is going to be low anyhow.. But hey ho...

Of course £260 is way to expensive, once the plumbers added his £500 for installing the bathroom circuits......dont do it mate, way too cheap
