Hi can any one tell me is it a regulation in a wood cutting workshop or mechanics garage to have vapour proof fluorescent fittings. Do i right it down on a electrical condition report.
Many thanks

Electrically any accessory should be suitable for the external influences found in the environment, if you have a woodworking shop where there is a lot of dust then the lighting system should be designed such that the build up of dust does not cause a problem for the electrical equipment.
The decision on whether it would be coded in an EICR would be yours as you have seen the situation.
A mention in a covering letter may be advisable, as a recommendation, that dust proof fittings should be used; if a problem is occurring.

A wood cutting workshop or mechanics garage have the possibility of been a zoned area, there should be a drawing of the building detailing any zoned areas, usually just zones 1 or 2. Any electrical equipment in these areas need to be suitable for the environment, ExD or similar.
