Discuss What EICR code for plastic trunking in escape routes? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net
Remember collapse isn't how we see it; we see it as failing before the fire-rated time for the material (30-60-90 mins etc), in actuality the definition for 'premature collapse' on this instance is collapsing before firefighting activities (S&R, fire elimination, damping down) is completed and the crew removed, NOT the materials failing their rated times. Why would it prematurely collapse, it has to be put up in accordance with the building regulations which require a ceiling to have a fire rating, all of this speculation is assuming that electricians has sufficient knowledge of the fire regulations to make an assessment of the danger, this is a specialist subject that any electrician should not get involved with IMO not part of the remit.
If it’s in plastic trunking or conduit it may collapse. If it’s above plaster board it wont. so no code.
Cross bond each bit, durr.....obvious.And, assuming it was needed, how would you ensure continuity to each piece of metal grid strip?
