Ive come across two instances now were my competitors are offering a 10 year parts and labour warrently - what solar panels come with a 10 year warrenty apart from Sanyo?

I normally give a 5 year labour warrenty - who else gives a 10 year?

Im struggling to understand if these other companys are taking a punt and putting there own "10 year" warranty on the parts assuming that its unlikley a panel fails and if its does "so whats its £300"

ta

Solarworld and Bisol both offer 10 year product warranties on their modules. We give a five year labour warranty as well.

solarworld 10years & 25year linear power warranty
centrosolar 10years & 26year power warranty
in stock if required

your not struggling you hit the nail on the head, its very unlikely a panel will fail in 10 yrs so go for it offer 10 yrs if it seems to make a difference and your competitors are offering it, i think alot of panel company's are going to offer 10yrs soon.

We only offer 2 year warranty on our work, the customer has the option to extend with Real if they choose to. We're lucky we've only been asked once for a longer warranty to compare with other national installers. We did start with 5 yers but dropped to 2 years pretty quickly.

Most of the panels we provide have 10 year warranties but as the kit is plug n play it's not really likely it will be used.

Im happy to offer a 10 year labour warrenty, but wouldnt feel comfortuble offering a an extended 5 year on a 5 year product - lets say in year nine all the glass cracks (it hardly going to happen) then i would have to stump of the cost of the new panels -

My labour warrenty is 5 years as standerd.

With the REAL warrenty, they cant extend it can they? - its only to insure the warrenty you offer the customer. Unless theres something im missing?

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the labour warranty which as I understand it you have the option to extend for £35 with REAL. I wouldn't be offering any warranty over and above that provided by the manufacturer - that would be madness.

You are obliged by REAL to offer a 5 year warranty on your labour, they offer to underwrite that warranty for the customer for an additional £35. This is in case you are totally slipshod, fit 100 crappy systems then close the firm to avoid the warranty claims. In that case someone like me will go back later and fix it, putting the bill to REAL's insurers.

Read your REAL agreement in fact of everyone read their REAL agreement and stuck to it they the industry would be cleaned up overnight!
