Hi,

i was wondering if any one could help, i started college back in 2009 time and gained an NVQ level 3 in electrical Engineering, i didnt get my 17th edition or AM2 as i stupidly left for another job, im moving to australia soon on a working visa and was wondering if i needed them last two to get a job as a sparkys mate

my mates said that because they dont recognise the qualifications anyway they dont matter you're more of a labourer than anything but as i will be rusty after a year and a half out im just wondering if i need them to get into a job.

thanks

You dont need any papers for a trades assistant but if you have them it would help in getting a job but the hard bit will be finding some one to take you on as an assitant as we have apprentices for that, it is part of thier leaning to do the fetching, carrying and cleaning up etc, even if you do have trade qualifications you will still need to pass a course on our wiring regs and demostrate your skills before obtaining a full unrestricted licence.
