Hi guys, quick introduction, I am only qualified as a domestic installer, not a full sparky. My company builds bespoke garden rooms. We have been asked to supply an outdoor dining room for a client and they are extremely keen on having the consumer unit and under floor heating controls on the exterior of the building to keep the internal walls clear.

The room will have an all metal 6 way consumer unit with 4 RCBOs for the required circuits. The heating controller is a standard, under laminate job.

My initial idea is to incorporate an IP65 Meter Box into the build of the walls and install both items inside (in the same way a standard meter box is installed on the outside walls of a house). This can then be locked to avoid unwanted interference.

Just looking to see if anyone has done this type of thing before and if you think the solution is compliant with the regs.

Many thanks...

It's done a lot more often than you think. Plenty of enclosure choices out there to choose from.
