This explains why it's worth the money. I have to use a conduit bender to bend mine.

So yours would be "Andy's design's incorporate the highest grade steel tubing, lovingly hand-contoured using the finest British-made forming equipment from world-renowned forges..."

Were they definately withdrawn? I have to reterminate an imperial MI and something a little bit flexible like that would have been perfect.

Thats got to add a ton at least onto each fitting !

My brother actually started making stuff like this not so long back. Not electrical, but making shelves and bathroom fittings from inch plumbing pipe. Looks pretty good when done right. He couples it with oiled chunky slabs of solid oak and elm and it looks right nice.

I think this proves the old saying about a fool and his money. It's bloody hideous but if some knacker wants to pay a kick in the backside off £300 I might start making something similar

You'd have to do like they do on The Apprentice Trev. Hire a posh shopfront for the day, put on a suit, and offer "real" coffee to all your clients.

I once made a light out of an old roadwork lamp (the ones that used to contain paraffin burners). Sold it for more than a hundred quid. Amazing what folks will pay for 'designer' accessories which are in fact just stuff made out of bin-material.

A bit like when "interior designers" take a perfectly nice oak dresser and go at it with hammers to give it the "distressed" look....

This reminds me of that "optimist" who had a go at painting a union flag on a cable reel and wanted 100 quid for it as a table.

"Upcycled"....I like that.

Didn't somebody post a link to an old cast iron fusebox advertised as a fancy spice rack for something like £300 on here once?

I did see something on one of those DIY programmes a while back where they were refurbing old industrial metal light fittings as they sold for hundreds each.
Think someone mentioned them on here too.

There was a fad for selling old rank-strand theatre lights as industrial chic or whatever they called it, th ekind of lights that were installed din every school and village hall for years. We made a few bob selling them when we ripped them out on refurbs!

I'm sure you do... just noticed the address.... North Norfolk!!! Guitarist has found a use for old cable drums!

Haha, didn't notice that. Do you really think I'd be sat on here typing if I had cable drums to paint? ;)

its just half an hour with the diestocks innit...

perhaps i should knock some up and set up a stall in the new proposed craft fair in the 1976 hall at Leeds city markets....

do my bit for the existing install...

Yep, this is exactly the sort of old tat, that will be on offer at these craft stores, and with those ridiculous price tags too!!

These Councilers have the commonsense that equates to the Square Root of Jack S**t!
