Been asked to alter an existing PV sytem (not installed by us) so the panels are sloping rather than flat. Not seen the system yet (I imagine it won't work due to shading), and don't know if they get FIT and don't know who installed it.

However, it raises an interesting question; what happens if you increase generation (but not installed capacity) beyond original annual yield estimate? I can imagine figures could trigger a fraud enquiry from Ofgem. We can't alter the annual yield estimate on MCS certificate as didn't install it.

Anyone got any experience of similar?

I can't see that it would be a problem (assuming you can rearrange them to slope). The difference between a dull spring and a sunny one would cause a much bigger difference, and everyone affected would get triggered for fraud.

I don't know if the suppliers have sophisticated enough fraud detection to check systems in the same neighbourhoods for differing generation, and that is made more difficult now anyway with spread meter reading dates. But if I was setting up an anti-fraud check I would make sure to allocate the same meter reading date to everyone within a certain radius.

I think there's at least 10% margin of error before any investigation is triggered, prob more like 20%

Similar to chopping a load of trees down.... we're about to do that on one badly shaded array that's been shaded since installed in 2012, The neighbour plans to dramatically reduced the height of his leylandii from 10m to 3m.
