Just started a 1 bed room house rewire. Quoted 3500 and customer accepted. There's just over 60 points in total and I'm supplying 1st and 2 fix gear. Job is easier than I thought but customer is a bit fussy so there will be some small alterations through out the job but I don't mind

Another sparks told me its too expensive but I wouldn't be interested in doing it for less.

I know it's hard to tell with out seeing the job.

whats your thoughts

You quoted the customer and got the job at your price. The other sparky sounds jealous you are making a reasonable income.

The other spark will be looking at the 1 bed to make his judgement, not the 60 points.

Just a thought, if the other guy thinks you're too expensive, sub it out to him for the price he wants and go and do another job yourself.

I don't get involved in jobs if in the end i making a day rate. I do it for profit.

No. Sounds like right money to me. Average is £60 a point all in. There's no shame in charging good money for a good job. Let others work for nothing.

There's so many people working for peanuts out there that I'm expected to drop ,y price to compete but I refuse to

If the £3,500 includes vat and there are indeed more than 60 points you are very close to the bench mark, a quick add up I reckon around 2,750 plus vat to make a profit, so around £3,300 ish IMO, or 2,200 plus vat to do the Job with hardly any profit, I assume you have fire proof downlights etc at 60 points for a one bed? you may be a couple of hundred over the average cost, but if the customer accepted it then whats the Problem?

Mdj you are bang on the money

Ive only been at estimating level for 17 years what do I know haha, seriously your price is fine M8, your running a business not a charity and your customers are paying for a skilled man installing a safe quality installation, keep up the good work fella, you will go far.

I've only been self employed for a few years and getting to grips with pricing.

Looks like you've got it right.

Priced to make a profit, clear up after you and accomodate a few small changes along the way!

Good man. Do it like this and you'll get recommendations.

sounds spot on, ive just quoted a 3bed detached (size of house not really the issue) at £3000 but thats only 44 points and very basic. so sounds fine to me.
