For a laugh I went on line and completed the "Part P test" no I didn't do the course, did it just for fun, it seems to me that if the questions are similar to the ones I answered, yes I passed before anyone has a dig, cover more than just part P of these regulations.

To that end would it not be better for the scams to call it "A building Regulation Qualification" equally as meaningless as the P qualification, but more recognizable to the general public that "Part P".

Would be interested in your views on this, I don't practice my trade anymore, the question is asked out of frustration really, Forum members it's over to you as Lloyd Grossman would say.

BS7671 does not cover building regs. Part P covers the integration of electrical services into dwellings and what the rules are to comply with the building regs. That is it basically.

Realize that TJ but some of the questions are referring to other parts of the BRs

Did mine over 5 years ago but from memory it included all relevant Brs for a sparky, not just P

It seems to me there are two aspects to this. A sparky who is "Part P" registered seems to attract a degree of ridicule from some people, but if you want to work on domestic then it is essential. Granted, it does not mean that an individual has the right experience, but neither does it mean that they are some overnight wonder. Either way, anyone who is involved in the many aspects (not just electrical) of working in dwellings needs to be aware of not just part P but many other parts of the building regulations, as do plumbers and obviously builders. If you have half a clue of what you are about, you don't need to go on courses, there are advisors on hand in the shape of BCO's. All the ones I have ever come across have been extremely helpful and will give you any help or advise you may need, you just have to ask them. I got 80% Pete what did you get??

Deleted my link, but if google Part P exams it should throw up something thats what I did

90% :)

Also, the quiz is out of date... Implies kitchens are special locations, etc.

Unless there's a different quiz somewhere...
