Hi. I'm a domestic electrician with about 8 years under my belt doing Domestic Electrics only. Lately I've decided that I'd like to do more training to work on power distribution. Overhead lines etc. I've seen some online courses with a few practical sessions for around £3500. I don't mind going down this route if I thought the training would be good.

Has anyone completed this course via this route? If so how did you get on and can you recommend any providers?

Cheers

By power engineering, what do you mean

/ theory? practical or both? it's a very diverse subject, not something to be trifled with.

I think most of the DNOs take on adult trainees to become jointers and linesmen. Alternately there are jobs in the larger substations for electricians/wiremen, usually working through agency's like Vital or Maze8. It depends what you want to do, can you be more specific.
