Hi, my CDA FWC303 wine fridge is knackered. The compressor doesn't start and I've traced it to the PTC which I plan to replace and have identified the required spare part.

However, the thermal overload protector has a continuity reading of 3.2 ohms between terminals which although still pretty low isn't below 1 ohm as expected, so I thought I'd replace this at the same time as it's a nightmare to get to and I only want to do it once. Problem is I can't find the correct replacement part (CDA don't offer them it seems), and I'm unsure of the correct rating.

The compressor is a Jiaxipera MM1060Y, but I can't find the hp rating. The old overload protector itself isn't any use either, it has some numbers on it but Google is drawing a blank. Can anyone advise the correct hp rating thermal overload protector I need for this compressor?

Please help, my beer is getting warm (yes I use my wine fridge to store beer).

Thanks

What are you measuring the overload with? The values might be too low to be accurately measured with a multi-meter. I assume you have mains at the compressor but no rotation due to the faulty PTC? All the faults I've repaired on these have been on the PCB.

Apologies if I'm teaching grandma to suck eggs.

The starter and overload appear to be listed as a combined unit QP3-15/C for the Jiaxipera MM1060Y.

With a multi-meter yes, thought ~3ohms was a strange reading as would expect it to be open circuit or <1ohm. I don't think it's the PCB as everything else is okay (fans, lights etc), I could be wrong though.

Regardless, the PTC is shot and needs replacing as the disc in the middle (official name) has disintegrated and therefore not energising the compressor starter winding when powering up.

The PTC and overload are supplied as separate items, as you say the PTC is a QP3-15 (15ohm starter), I need to know whether a 1/2, 1/3, or 1/6 horsepower overload is needed along with it.
