Discuss Crimping tool in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

that one's a bit pricey. i got similar, 6mm - 35mm for £70 . a haupa.

I have one very similar to the one in your link, it's made by SWA and it's part number is CT6-50.

Available form CEF for around £60.

I do prefer the hex type on larger crimps myself.

Do the hex jaws ever require replacement?

Its not new but doesn't show any signs or wear, just tried it with a few 25mm terminals and they're tight.

Not bad for a garage find then:wink_smile:

This is one of the ones that we invested in before biting the bullet and going for a hydraulic set .
We found that we needed to crimp using the correct size and then do it again with the next size down or the crimp could be removed again if really pulled , both the larger set of swa crimper's and the slightly smaller set of swa crimper do the same ?
How have you found them Lenny ?

hex crimpers are much better than indent types. IMO, ifit doesnt crimp right inthe first instance, then get rid. As for the dies, they dont ever wear out, but the hydraulic seals on the crimpers might. The only prob with hex crimpers, is that opn the large sizes 95, 120 150 ect, you often have to file the lug down once crimped, as it leaves sharp edges. For large sizes of lugs, eitherheat shrink or self amalgamating tape is the way to go to insulate them.

Hex are better IMO. My day to day crimper that I carry round is indent upto 35mm which I have never had a problem with. However I much prefer the hex type, we have a Hydraulic crimper upto 300mm that is hex and it's faultless albeit pricey
