Hi

Do any sparks know of a product that will clamp better to earth bars at consumer units and accessories. I’m getting tired of my croc clips slipping off when testing, especially when trying to zs a light 3 plate. I’m thinking there must be something that will grip around the screw that I can then croc clip too. Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

I think I can remember a post from someone on social media who had a clip that clipped over the earth screw, it looked perfect but can’t find anything. I prefer to measure zs rather than calculate but can be dangerous at ceiling lights. Don’t want to spend out on a 2 probe tester if there is a cheaper product! Thanks for answering though

I use Hirschmann grabbers all the time at the bench but I would say their resistance can be a bit variable when you are dealing with sub 1-ohm measurements. I have a couple of test leads with shrouded plugs at one end and pin crimps on the other, so that if there is a spare terminal I can screw the test lead in for the duration. Alternatively I sometimes screw in a loop of bare 2.5.

The other thing I have for some tests are a couple of 2.5mm flexible leads with 4mm shrouded plugs on one end, and the other end just ferruled. Would do fine for this sort of job as well if there is a spare screw.
