Eicr prices

Just wondering do any of you have set prices for EICR?

Got potentially big contract of flats to test, dont want to charge over £100 for a flat etc and price myself out of it. As if there a quite a few then cost can come down.

I was thinking £65- 1bed
£75- 2 bed
£85- 3 bed
£95- 4 bed

Does that sound close to what you would charge?

An EICR for £65.00 - IMHO not worth the paper its written on.

£65 - @ £21.67 per hour, gives you 3 hours for travel, gaining access, I&T and documentation.
No chance!
Even worse for the 4 bed.

I've only I&Ted as an employee, so don't really know how much people generally charge, but the above seems too low.
There has been discussions on here about charging per circuit, £20 - £25 / cct springs to mind.

Archy that would be roughly what I would charge back in 2009.

18-25 for domestic depending on installation condition and 25-32 for commercial/industrial again depending on condition

No idea Malc, like I said, I've never priced one up being a wage slave.

My 1st I&T job was domestic, they expected me to do at least 4 a day (hahahahhaha!!!), lucky to get 2 done, about 20 ccts (properly of course!)
I walked after day 2.

IMHO a the minimum you could start with is £125.00 for 1/2 day and that may be profitable for you!

I charge £25 per circuit single phase. Depending on the area. Two/Three bed house with 8 circuits = £200 plus the dreaded if you're registered.

That seems to be the problem Archy your going up against companies who don't want to do a proper job and expect tradesmen to compromise themselves in doing sub standard work, I hope testing and inspection is not going down the road of the PAT scam.

I'm not sure if Infinity might just be doing the right thing, and costing as he is.

If the flats are in a single block or just spread over a couple of locations then the transport/paperwork/etc can be spread over those location so for example drive to say a large house that as been converted into 3 flats say, you spread it like that.

Then you most likely be picking up a few remedial and such like and once the client trusts you you maybe picking up other contracts.

For me I don't think that is a bad price, if you just did 3 smallish one beds in a day, which is possible then your nearly 200 pounds .................

Fair points, but how often does that occur?
Then you've the additional hassle of arranging 2 or 3 times for people to be in.
A variable price structure could be in order depending on locations, serious headache looming...

I priced a university complex at 165 per 2 to 3 bed flat and studio apartments, each flat and studio had about 8 circuits or so each, was under priced by 100 per flat! I was asked to match it in which I replied with a thanks but no thanks. No idea how anyone can do thorough EICR at some silly price!!! Ahem!!!

Well i would normally charge about £120 for 2 bed house, not knowing the condition. But these are student flats mainly which have had to of been tested every year as occupancy changed, so all paperwork from previous year should be available so no hunting for circuits, and obviously they should be in pretty good order.

In which case you could be looking at 3 a day as all in same area. Also its very local.
Obviously if i got there and it had drive by tests carried out previously i will put disclaimer in pricing stating costs will have to rise to reflect the fact more time will be required on site.

I was offered student digs to test last summer.

One look around and I declined the business - the places were filthly, filled with "stuff" and access wasn't guaranteed as many doors had locks.

Ah now, if you're talking about self catering flats in Halls of Residence, I reckon they'd be a stroll in the park. If they're like the ones I'm familiar with and you're presumably I&T in the holidays, could be a good number that!

Infinity no offence but this sounds like a copy and paste procedure if you are getting documentation from the year before and me thinks thats what the winning tender is working on plus I have no doubt they have stipulated that they get to peruse the previous documentation. But as discussed before this is the sign of the times economically and the fact that we have a feeding frenzy with regards to guys trying to get in on this business and are happy to do it for prices that they can just survive on. I must agree with Murdoch these students flats can be a nightmare I was in one where all the smoke detectors were stacked up on the telephone table because they would not chip in to buy a battery. Plus like PAT testing the Schemies know that these 50p or £60 companies are not doing it right but who cares aas they are getting their subsand selling courses
