Electrical safety check as from November 2009

I had a letting agent ring me today to ask about a new electrical safety check coming into force as from november? what could it be other than a PIR or PAT test? would be good to hear others views on this.

I deal Quite alot with letting agents and rented property, and no one has as of yet herd of this,
where did your agent get his info from? Ihope somethings on its way as most propertys i visit need attention, and then theres the extra work

I was told this year by my ELECSA assessor that some kind of Star Rating PIR was being developed, where a 1 star PIR was basically a visual with a few Earth Loop Tests, and a 2 star was say a visual with 20% check behind accessories and a few more basic tests, right up to a 5 star PIR which was a full inspection and test.
He said that this was some time off but was being seriously concidered, the brains behind it thought it would give customers a better understanding on what they were getting with an inspection and test.
Perhaps this is what they are talking about.?
