Hi every1,after doin all the hard work,ie connectin 4x300mm swa cabling and installing from a 1600 amp main switch, then connecting 2 a square d panelboard,400mm swa single cabling, eon the supplier refused 2 connect the tails. The consultant worked out that we needed 3x400mm swa tails, per phase,2 neutrals & 2 400mm earths. These cables cud not physically b connected onto eon switchgear ,& so no connection happened. They refused 2 piggy back any connection, they now require us 2 run 2x630mm tails per phase,2 neutrals & a earth, this will b very expensive & time consumin,But what a cock up by the consultant, how 2 fit a round pin in2 a square hole take ii easy,ta ra bab, cheers 4 all replies & help:cool:

You should consider providing a busbar chamber to terminate your swa's. Then you can tail from this through EON's CT chamber in whatever size cables EON are happy with.

You should not be using SWA singles on an AC installation due to eddy currents. The correct method would be AWA singles with aluminium glands and locknuts terminated onto a non ferrous gland plate or with slots between glands on steel gland plate.

yeah sorry they r awa single cables,Eon r now asking us 2 take out 1 cable per phase,so this now leaves 2x400 mm awa cables per phase,it will also have 1 neutral & 2 main earths all at 400mm,they will then let us connect, consultants cock up again, other than that goin along quite nicely, sorry bout grammar!! cheers ta ra bab.

1600A would indicate 1MVA supply @ 440V. 2X500mm CU or 2X600mm AL would be normal.
Who is running this show, EON or the design consultant? I wouldn’t be happy to install undersized tails without a disclaimer from EON.
cheers ta ra bab (whatever that means)
