HI,

I am currently looking at a renovation for a friend and basically looking after all trades.

The house doesnt have any gas, Does anyone know the cost for having gas installed from the road to a new meter?

Any info would be appreciated

Cheers steve

He's right. I saved £800 by digging the trench myself. A good idea is to get them to come to do a site survery. All the people who I have met have been good and helped me save money with odd bits of advice. You can buy the meter box from a Builders Merchant and save money

Be very sure you understand all the people you have to notify (ie the council if they dig up the pavement. And thanks to the current bunch of bounders, conmen and thieves (pronouced Govt), you want to avoid digging with three metres of a sewer. As of Oct 1st, the public sewer is no longer just the bit in the street. Its now the bit running under your land as well. In the Severn Trent area, the min cost of asking them for permission is £700 !!! Daylight robbery - but buy Water shares
