Gauge Requirements

I have been looking around and used a calculator for this. I am looking to run 120v/100 AMP supply to a pole barn 175 feet and buried from the main breaker. What size and type of wire will I need? Thanks in advance.

With the length and the amperage I would use THWN or THHN which is the same type of wire and the size would be #2 wire. I’m curious of why you would want just 120vac to the pole barn when you could install a panel in your barn and pull 100 amp 240vac service to that. It would also have to be in conduit which PVC is the cheapest. That’s a lot of work for just 120vac. Something to think on. Good luck

Thanks for the feedback. Only adding lights and a bathroom to the barn. Its used mainly as storage.

Same size wire but it would need to be 4 wire three # 2 and one # 6 equipment ground. Conduit would be 11/2 PVC good luck

stokes I was talking about copper I never use aluminum, it’s double the size and bending it is a nightmare especially 4/0. Good luck
