a customer needs a cu replacement and the meter tails are 16mm and the earth 10mm run from a receesed box outside the flats front door and the cut out fuse is marked up 100A.now...to upgade the meter tails nd earth is going to be a right pain in the A*** ..is it unherd to ask the dno to put a 80 amp cut out fuse to replace the 100a to save the hassle of upgrading the tails???

Have you had a look at the fuse itself or are you Reading the lable on the fuse carrier ,you may find it is already a 80a fuse or even a 60a which I would put money on as it's a flat.

But its sealed :)

Believe me its going to come to this little cherry again ;)

What seals would these be, cut outs never have them ;) or all the ones I work on anyway .

my thoughts exactly pennywise ,the fuse carrier is marked up at 100A and i have`nt peaked inside yet and i forgot to mention that its a 3 phase service head with Tn-cs earthing if it makes a differance?

thanks for all your replys ,i`am sure there wasnt a seal ;) and will check the actual fuse tommorow
