I went on the above course today, under pressure from certain organisations only wanting Honeywell trained personnel working on their heating systems.
The past 15 years of experience apparently count for squat!!
Anyway I turned up with a huge chip on my shoulder expecting to be robbed of a day of my life, was pleasantly surprised though.
The cost was £30 for a full day, 9-5, we had free tea, coffee & biccies on arrival (8:45), more refreshments at 10.30am, a 2 course meal at lunchtime (12:30) & further refreshments at 3pm.
As I expected, I didn't learn anything new about wiring & connecting S plan & Y plan etc, but the insight to new technology and the various products they have available & their uses was very good, particularly their existing wireless range of accessories and the new ones to come.
I also learned a bit about the plumbing of these systems, gravity fed, fully pumped etc which does no harm at all.
What was particularly interesting was the relevant building regs associated with plumbing & heating work, and their requirements when work is being carried out, a bit of an eye opener really.
The zoning requirements of heating circuits for new builds & existing renovations were a particular mute point with some of the plumbers on the course as it literally adds thousands to a job that might only be a couple of hundred quid, if building regs are followed to the letter, which they should be.
There is also the possibility of generating more work for ourselves with regard to the zoning requirements as there are means of achieving this using wireless accessories without altering any pipework at all so no disruption to the customer. This can only be a bonus point of selling IMO, although what you save in upheaval & disruption, you do loose a bit at the till.
All in all I thought it was well worthwhile attending & certainly worth £30 of anyone's money. If the opportunity presents itself I recommend attending, if only for the goody bag at the end.......the honeywell product manual, the honeywell wiring & fault finding guide, a USB drive with all the course content on, various bits of literature & a man bag!!
