Hello all,

I'm not Part P registered yet but am on my way, hoping to be registered sometime later in the year. I was looking at purchasing the following inspection and testing equipment:

Kewtech KT35 Digital/Continuity Tester
Kewtech KEW1700 Voltage Tester
Kewtech Kewcheck R2 Socket adaptor
Kewtech Kewprove 2 Proving unit

These are the items we have been using at college but would be grateful to know if this is enough? Or would I be better off looking at inspection and testing packages that come as a kit.

Any advice would be appreciated!

when the new megger MFT comes out, there will be a fair few 1552's for sale. these are , IMO, the best MFT ever.

Ok, in that list you have supplied you do not have any test equipment for the live tests.

Earth Fault Loop Impedance
RCD's
Phase Rotation.

You also may want to consider getting an R2 lead to assist with continuity of bonding conductors.

Thanks Widdler,

Can you recommend any equipment for Earth Fault Loop Impedance, RCD's, and Phase Rotation? Are there products out there that are too pricey and worth avoiding or are they all pretty much the same?

I was converted to megger when the cm500 came out now can't wait for delivery of the 1730 although i must say the 1552 & 1553 have served me well.

only thing i can say against the 1552 is that it's not got phase rotation. but not a problem for me as i don't need that.

Another reason to get the 1730 as it's rechargeable.
