Hi guys, I'm wondering if anybody could tell me what status I would get when applying for my first jib card. My experience is just a little over seven years doing installation on commercial and industrial sites with a little experience on domestics. I was going to do the usual route of an adult trainee, ie 2330 2&3 and then nvq 3. However I was told by an engineer at ng baileys that because of my experience I didn't need to do the 2330 2&3, and that I could just go straight onto the nvq 3 course and then apply for jib electrician status. Now, I completed my nvq 3 end of last year and also have done 17th and 2391, but when I phoned the jib they said they couldn't tell me over the phone what grade I would receive because I didn't have 2330 2&3, and that it would have to go to the grading panel. They told me to send my certs, references and £25 quid. I know it ain't much but I don't want to pay £25 quid if I'm only going to get a labourer as my status. Help????

just got my card, having sent off certs for: 2330 2 & 3, AM2, NVQ3, 17th, completed apprenticeship cert and 2391, graded electrician, but the only things listed on the back of the card are the 17th, NVQ and 2391.

That's normal, my card is the same but approved. If you can get a work reference, and as you have 2391 and nvq3. The most important quals IMO, they might grade you as a spark. Worth a try. Seems to work for some people.

Ta mate. 23302&3 is too much to do unless I go to college for about 3 years. I'm gonna book onto the design course 2391/20 and if I pass that then send off to the jib and see what happens. I think the argument with them maybe that I don't have the theory side to being a spark.

If you have NVQ, 2391 and 17th you will get approved electrician status its nvq what gets you electrician status and the 2391-10 gets you approved as far as i have been told
