The above, dont you just love them all crumbly and dusty, especially when shower pull switches are attached and you have to take them down to do IR cos of the bloody neon, why cant the little red lens be detachable then we could kill the bloody things with something pointy, then put the lens back and pretend it was ok when we tested it, cooker switches as this time are considered to be under consideration,

Well if your talking about a new install the IR testing should be done before connecting to avoid that problem, if a EICR then Lim it.

switch the pull switch off. IR test the incoming L-N. guess the bit to the shower. :sorcerer:

If the switched section needs to be tested, and if a fault and bathroom work have arrived together,it will, then it is just a case of removing the cover. If a pull switch has not become loose during its' operation, then it will stand partial dissection. I have done the same at a friends, where someone in the past had drilled through the cable, and executed a very poor plaster embedded chocky block repair. On a lighter, more educational vein,if you do come across a loose pull-switch,fitted to a lath & plaster ceiling, why not do what me pals mum did?....Get yourself a cardboard tube,6" shorter than the pull-string.Then,3" up from the pull knob, tie a hair brush across,so the tube cannot slide off. Now,when switching, grasp the tube with left hand and push switch up to ceiling, and pull string downwards, with other hand. This method works even if the switch is mounted on cling-film,but,as yet,has not received official approval...fingers crossed for 18th...:conehead:
