Can these RGB multicolour led strips easily be dimmed by a wall dimmer rather than with the remote they come with.

customers now does not want all the colours and the fact that they have to use remote to dim- although thats whats I quoted for prior to doing the work!!!

currently have a 2gang grid sw (1 dimmer for led downlights, then 1 normal switch which turns the strip around the ceiling on/off- then via remote- change colour and dim up/down

Generally yes - you would need a 12v dimmable led driver, and adapt the (I assume) 4 wire connector lead to the strip so that it is connected with the + and - only to the driver.

In theory that should dim, if the cable feeding the driver is connected to the dimmer switch!
