What do you think;

I am going through the NICEIC assessement and just had the initial half day visit from the field engineer.

I paid £76 to have my 1552 calibrated just recently. The man from NICEIC advised me now to make up a suitable checkbox with two restisors ( 1 ohm and 1Mohm, he gave me a sketch etc), and said that they would be happy with quarterly self checks, with suitable records for resistance, RCD tests, PFC and Zs, (these always being done on the same known source) (my home). This was acceptable as proof of accuracy and they would not require annual calibration as long as quarterly results were within plus or minus 5%.

I have made up the check box and done the checks on RCD,PFC and Zs on a socket and recorded the first records.

Seems a very good idea, anyone aware of this?

hi pjk
yes fully aware of this, i am registered with Elecsa and this is the way they work. i check my machine monthly and log the results on a sheet so any variation can be detected. i don't need an official calibration of the machine for three years as the checks done show if there is any deviation that needs to be rectified.
Happy days.....:D for once someone is not trying to screw us for more money, this saves at least £70 a year on my multifunction tester.
