Will throw in an unpopular suggestion and add the caveat that I'm not an electrician.
Bought a DiLog DL9110 MFT for some domestic testing after doing work that I couldn't find anyone interested in doing. Might not be the fastest and wont have features that more expensive testers have, but it did everything I needed in a domestic situation and leaves plenty of your budget for voltage tester, proving unit and other tools.
A couple of the big sites specialising in testers will usually throw in something extra with new MFT purchases - currently wander lead or earth leakage clamp meter seem to be common offers.
I'd be curious to read comments on 2 pole voltage testers and proving units as I don't know much about them and whether there is much to gain between different brands. I had a Fluke T110 for many years, which was recently replaced under recall for a brand new one, and a Martindale proving unit. They both work as intended, which is all I've ever needed them to do. Some higer spec voltage testers will have additional features, such as phase rotation, but you probably don't need that.
