Hi all,

Got an awkward bathroom fan installation in a downstairs flat, concrete ceilings and (some) walls. Bathroom is already fully tiled and 'finished'. Due to the window in the bathroom, it is impossible to get a fan directly out of the one external wall. A window fan is a theoretical option but getting wiring to it would be very disruptive. The best solution I've been able to come up with is a fan which vents through to the next room and then out of an external wall there, where is space for a 110mm hole. The point I'd appreciate some suggestions on is what fan system to install. My only options for power are from the bathroom downlights or a socket on the other side of the wall. However from the downlights I can only get a switched live and neutral, the JB is inaccessible (I don't even know where it is). This leaves me with two options as I see it, firstly a fan that just comes on with bathroom lights, not ideal as there will be no ovverun. The other option is a humidistat fan, powered from the socket.

We need strong extraction in the bathroom, because the flat gets a lot of condensation and generally can get quite humid, no doubt in part due to lack of proper bathroom ventilation, so a powerful bathroom fan should help a lot, at least to fully clear the bathroom. So I'm thinking can you get a remote humidity sensor that can be in Zone 1 in the bathroom and use a powerful inline fan in a cupboard in the next room? I doubt a typical axial fan (with a humidistat) would be powerful enough.

Thoughts appreciated please!
Cheers

I recommend the Manrose Humidistat timer: Humidity Sensors for fans - https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Manufacturers/Manrose/Ventilation_Accessories_2/index.html
And this axial fan, very quiet comparatively and powerful: 4"/100mm In Line Duct Extractor Fan - Silent 250m3/hr | Soler_&_Palau (5211360600) - https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SLTD250SILENT.html I have both in our en-suite, can't hear the fan when in the bedroom and by the time you have finished wiping down the shower I'm dry for the fan.
