So this morn, I turned up to do some pat testing, its for a charity so I'm doing It extra cheap...

But the woman at the desk said, the usual company who we have turned up, did aload of testing so there isn't much for you to do, but we still need a cert, so we'll pay you all the same...

So I started, and she brought me a brew and told me there was a speaker, it always fails, but it belongs to so-so anyway, so just put a fail on it....

Ok... So I come to it, and the company who got here just before me passed it... It fails because its casing comes apart, you could so easy get a belt...

Just shows these big companys pass anything at low low rates without even looking at the item....

Yeah, I was shocked, it was so obviously dangerous, even the woman on the desk knew it would fail, yet there's the pass...

Needless to say after seeing that I tested all the gear they "tested" anyway...

I just used to leave a roll of stickers so they could apply them at their leisure and I didn't have to disturb their working day.
Do you get them to sign a waiver stating that all the appliances 'look ok' and specify that it's a 'visual only' inspection?
I expect you could slash the rate to 25p per appliance and still make a profit, which can only be good for everyone.
