Thats correct yesSo lets get this straight Conductors joined at CU, your testing between the earth and L at the back of the socket, and you are trying to prove continuity by switching the on off switch on the socket, all correct so far?

I'm just checking the instructions on some Neurofen +.My head hurts now ..
Thats why you can't prove continuity by switching the socket switch on and off, you never mentioned in your original post that the FCU was for something else other that feeding the socket, which as others have pointed out, a rather odd thing to do.Thats correct yes
I can't take them, allergic apparently, oh I know a bottle of beer may do the trickI'm just checking the instructions on some Neurofen +.
beer works for me. and for excessive pain, i stop listening to her.I can't take them, allergic apparently, oh I know a bottle of beer may do the trick
what is the point of putting test leads on terminals at back of socket and turning socket switches on and off ?Thats correct yes[/QUOT
that is what I posted but no reply yet to thisOP.does you mft hold the reading when dissed from the circuit?
exactly my pointwwhat is the point of putting test leads on terminals at back of socket and turning socket switches on and off ?
Good point.......wwhat is the point of putting test leads on terminals at back of socket and turning socket switches on and off ?
wwhat is the point of putting test leads on terminals at back of socket and turning socket switches on and o
Yes..... see where your coming from now.exactly my point
The OP may have realised his error, if we are correct, which seems likely, but there is no shame in making a mistake we all do it, it's how we learn, I hope he comes back and puts our minds at rest, certainly not going to take the proverbial out of him.exactly my point
I'll correct myself unless you are checking operational of the socketwwhat is the point of putting test leads on terminals at back of socket and turning socket switches on and off ?
Good manI was using the plug in tester and was getting silly high readings even after nulling, hence why i dropped the socket front and tested at the screws. Of course i wont get any break in continuity testing at the back..... As Cpt Mainwaring used to say..... Time to get a new plug in adaptor i think.
Fluke 1652cIs it a metrel tester?
Can i just ask one more thing? Why do you guys not like the idea of a double socket fed from the fcu? The garage door from the fcu is only a 50w motor.
Fluke 1652c
Have you taken the supply to the socket from the load side of the FCU? The ideal way of doing you circuit, would be feed from CU to socket, FCU to feed door motor suitably fused down, not the way you have configured it.Can i just ask one more thing? Sorry yes,its not fed from the fcu. Im just having a bad day....From what you've described the 2G socket isn't fed from the FCU, they are both in series on the radial.
