Discuss R1 R2 on Radial circuit in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Thats correct yes
Thats why you can't prove continuity by switching the socket switch on and off, you never mentioned in your original post that the FCU was for something else other that feeding the socket, which as others have pointed out, a rather odd thing to do.

OP.does you mft hold the reading when dissed from the circuit?

exactly my point
The OP may have realised his error, if we are correct, which seems likely, but there is no shame in making a mistake we all do it, it's how we learn, I hope he comes back and puts our minds at rest, certainly not going to take the proverbial out of him.:)

I was using the plug in tester and was getting silly high readings even after nulling, hence why i dropped the socket front and tested at the screws. Of course i wont get any break in continuity testing at the back..... As Cpt Mainwaring used to say..... Time to get a new plug in adaptor i think.

Good man

Can i just ask one more thing? Why do you guys not like the idea of a double socket fed from the fcu? The garage door from the fcu is only a 50w motor.

From what you've described the 2G socket isn't fed from the FCU, they are both in series on the radial.

Have you taken the supply to the socket from the load side of the FCU? The ideal way of doing you circuit, would be feed from CU to socket, FCU to feed door motor suitably fused down, not the way you have configured it.
