hi there

just been to a property too possibly extend a ring main (2 extra sockets). when looking at the ring circuit i noticed 2 fused connection units, on further inspection these were not spurred off the ring main but wired as part of the ring main (supply side) i assume they were once single sockets and have been replaced with fcu's for some reason.

is this still allowed as i have not come accross it before. appears to me to be electrically safe as it stands

any advice please

Perfectly fine, it's better than a spur if you think about it!

Yes nothing at all wrong with that. Reg 433.1.5 an accessory to BS 1363 may be supplied through a ring main and our spur most likely is a BS 1363-4
