hi i have been out to look at a shower that did not work so on arrival i check that there was voltage at the pull cord but only on the feed side and when the pull swicth was on no voltage on the load side so i change the pull cord for a new 1 and the shower workerd but then i got a call back the woman said it has stopped working when i got there it was the same no voltage on the load side so change the pull coed again and wot do you know she has rang me me saying the shower does not work it is a 8kw shower feed on a 6mm cable on a 40 amp mcb any ideas on what this could be
 
3 in a row is just improbable. Take one of the 'duff' switches and just measure the resistance across it.

More likely is a poor connection somewhere.
 
The other thought that ran through what's left of my brain tonight was neons being wrongly wired.
 
Poor ****er probably cost more in time and petrol then the jobs worth, tho i would have gone with a different brand the second time, either dodgy batch/poorly made or you are the unluckiest person ever.

Good lesson here on why buying better quality accessories is a good idea.
 
Crabtree pull switches can stick. Ive only ever seen it once with my mentor at the time and it was very rare for him to see it.

There is a bit of plastic that pops out when it is on.

When it sticks it doesnt pop out but when you unscrew it and hold in your hand it works every time
 
Whats with these shower pull switches?
Any electric showers I've ever used, I just turn them on in the cubicle. There maybe an Isolation switch on the wall outside close to the light switch.
