Anyone ever used side cutters as wire strippers
as am in the middle of converting my loft, i needed some side cutters as i lost my others,
so i got some they cost about a tenna i tried striping some wire with them and they was not that good at doing it,
am starting to think i will get some new more expensive ones, (you get what you pay for i guess) anyone have any recommendations?

does anyone on here use wire strippers or just cutters for stripping wire, i don't really want to keep swapping tools all the time

Rarely ever use side cutters for anything now really, cropper cutters to strip ends off the cable works perfect for me. It's more a case of what you are used to using and the quality of the tool behind that.

scoring the conductor is the often touted reason not to use cutters, still if you have been doing it for years like me and most guys its a knack
tutors at college discourage the use so I suppose the lads coming up will all use strippers, I once heard the saying cutters are for hedges strippers are for stag nights

i use mt barco's they are nice and small as i have small hands and prefer them i damaged a set cutting through a live wire opps silly me they are now fantastic for stripping and bending the ends of the cables , i have bought a new pair but never use them well as yet

i use ck cutters with the 1.5,2.5 stripper bits after useing these i cant use any others, as im used to stripping cables with them. wouldnt use any others now

I do mostly panel work and use strippers for the control wiring. When you're working on a bench with sometimes hundreds of wires it's much easier. For the power wiring above 10mmsq I use side cutters.
